Welcome to Faithfully Chic!

My name is Tatiana Jenkins and I was born on November 9th. I am originally from Greenville, SC, but when I was in my early teens my parents brought a beautiful home further west of Upstate. I spent most of my childhood visiting different places with my parents and my older brother. We loved to go fishing, to the beach, camping and cooking out in the mountains, and visiting my father’s family in Charleston, SC. Along with having fun with my family, I’ve always had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. My mother’s parents are pastors over a church that my grandfather built, which is where my relationship with Jesus Christ began. Whenever I am stressed about work/ graduate studies or anything in life that makes me feel off balance, I simply meditate different bible verses to help calm myself down.

I discovered one of my first loves when I was 3 years old and that is dancing. My mother put me in dance because I started gaining an excessive amount of weight as a child. When I was in the 5th grade, I auditioned to be a part of the Fine Arts Center of Greenville for dance. I was accepted and continued to dance with the Arts. Later, I performed with the Easley Greenwave Dance Team. The dance team was a mixture of jazz, hip-hop, ballet, and modern dance. People saw us as mini- Lakers Girls. Along with dancing, I’ve been playing the flute since the 6th grade and I’ve been an active tennis player since the 7th grade. In high school, I continued to play the flute, run track, play tennis, and participate in several activities provided by Easley High School. During my senior year, my main focus was dancing, so I only danced ballet en pointe and took honor classes to prepare myself for college.

I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina Upstate where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Middle Level Education with concentrations in English and Social Studies, and am currently pursuing my masters degree. It took me three years to finally realize that I wanted to be an educator. My mother has been an educator since she was in her early 20’s, so I do feel like she’s had a great impact on me wanting to be a teacher. At first, I didn’t really think I had what it takes to put my time and energy into teaching until I observed an English class during my junior year. I’ve always loved being in an English class and writing. I decided to choose Social Studies as my concentration because I’ve always enjoyed learning about the past so that I learn from the mistakes and successes of others

Even though teaching has my heart, there are so many other things that I can also see myself doing like being an editor, owning a boutique, and even working as a news anchor.I decided to start blogging simply because the Lord led me to do so. I've always loved writing, but never thought to blog for leisure. I had a lot of practice blogging during undergrad because it was a requirement for a few of my ELA courses and for studying abroad. Since, developing such a strong relationship with Christ, He has truly opened my eyes to so many different things that I didn't know were right in front of me. My blog posts are all going to be God-led as I incorporate my love for fashion, reading, hair/skin products, and everyday obstacles that young women deal with.
